When your goods are oversized either by weight, dimensions or quantity, you need tailored and highly specialised solutions for your supply chain.
Also known as Out-of-Gauge (OOG) or Heavy Lift, Project Cargo is the broad term used to describe voluminous shipments. This can be shipments that do not fit a conventional container, that must be loaded individually, or that are project-critical, such as large pieces of equipment.
There are many different types of project cargo that require personalised and specialised project logistics solutions to move safely. The type of cargo is determined by several factors, including whether the shipment requires additional equipment such as refrigeration, open-top containers, RO-RO (Roll-On, Roll-Off), Dangerous Goods solutions, and more.
Breakbulk cargo, sometimes written as “break bulk cargo”, are goods that are individually loaded and transported. They are unable to be loaded into a standard container and are sometimes also referred to as “Out-of-Gauge” (OOG) or “non-containerised loads”. They are often separated into different parts for transportation and re-assembled after delivery. Types of breakbulk cargo include construction equipment, wind turbine blades, generators, and more.
Each project cargo and breakbulk shipment is different and requires extensive familiarity and in-depth knowledge at both the origin and destination. Due to the highly complex nature of project cargo logistics, our freight forwarding experts work with you to provide tailored solutions through consultation with your teams and your suppliers. This includes support to plan, coordinate, implement and manage other logistics requirements of breakbulk and project cargo, such as documentation, customs clearance, and even arrange local traffic control where it is required.
