What are “Dangerous Goods”?

There are nine classes of Dangerous Goods, with some classes including more specific sub-divisions. These classes are standard across the world and are regulated both internationally and nationally. The international regulatory bodies for the transportation of DG include ICAO’s Technical Instructions, IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations, the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the IMO’s International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.

Additionally, some countries impose more specific and sometimes stricter regulations, and if you are moving your DG through these countries, you must ensure you adhere to the local requirements.
