The main disadvantages of FSL’s are related to the introduction of any third party supplier into your supply chain. They include your loss of end to end quality control, lack of supplier ownership and potential margin stack if your chosen supplier, in turn, outsources any aspect of the service they are providing to you. The operation can become complicated very quickly, resulting in an increase in service failures and a lack of clarity as to who is at fault and how to resolve them.
The advantages of a successful partnership with an FSL supplier includes as reducing in the time it takes to deliver your products to customers as well as the time it takes your field service engineers to collect and return parts. These productivity gains represent a real competitive advantage, boosting productivity and increasing service levels.
Unlike any other Forward Stock Location service provider, TVS SCS owns and manages a unique range of national distribution options. These include 42 Forward Stock Locations, 250 PUDO’s and 10,000 Intelligent lockers and well as access to 3,000 same-day couriers, in-night, repair and field service engineers.
This approach ensures that business can increase the efficiency of their inventory management while avoiding costly third-party mark-ups and the lack of ‘ownership’ that can result in expensive delays or lost or damaged items when using separate third-party suppliers.
