INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF YOUR PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION

TVS SCS national network of Forward Stocking Locations (FSL) enables businesses to store their fast-moving products closer to their customers, provide faster delivery options and reduce their overall storage costs.

In today’s market customers have come to expect Same Day, time-specific delivery options and companies that have the supply chain infrastructure to meet this demand consistently and cost-effectively are seeing their market share increase.

TVS SCS has a UK network of 42 Forward Stocking Locations with a further 300 FSL’s located across Europe.

In light of the unpredictable fluctuations in demand for goods and services, the fixed costs of maintaining, staffing and managing a network of central distribution centres are becoming a concern for many businesses.

We offer a transaction pricing model for using our Forward Stocking Locations which allows costs to introduce both cost and service efficiencies into their Supply Chain.

TCV SCS own and manage a range of innovative distribution options and our customers typically blend our network of storage and distribution solutions to create the most suitable strategy for their specific requirements proving different workflows and SLAs across each region if required.

In addition to our Forward Stocking Locations, we have a European Network of Pick Up and Drop off locations, Intelligent lockers and In-Night distribution services.

In order to improve our client’s turnaround times and minimise inventory holding, TVS SCS uses it’s trunking infrastructure to collect parts directly from client repairers and deliver directly to client engineers and FSL’s / Pudo’s; similarly, this operates in reverse whereby defective parts can be delivered directly to repairers – TVS SCS collects from many of the UK’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 repairers for its existing client base.

The FSL’s all operate on a 24-hour call-out basis, with some key sites manned on a 24 hr basis.

TVS SCS operates one of largest Same Day Courier fleets in the UK with small vans and LWB vehicles being readily available at each FSL.

This means that when the same day pick is requested, a courier is pre-allocated to the job as the part is being picked ensuring a pick SLA of 30 minutes. Furthermore, a final mile courier ETA is provided, and all pick and ETA performance as a key part of the reporting.

Our courier despatch system provides real-time, street-level tracking accessible online. Users can also set automatic notifications to be sent to the requestor, booker and recipient at key points throughout the journey, thereby minimising the time traditionally required to check the courier’s location with the supplier.

    FAQs

Forward stocking locations, sometimes referred to as Forward Stock locations or FSL’s enable companies to manage the distribution of their inventory efficiently by holding stock at multiple regional locations rather than a central location.

FSL’s provide businesses with satellite warehouses reducing the time it takes them to deliver their products to customers as well as the time it takes their field service engineers to collect and return parts. These gains in productivity increase service levels and boost revenue and as a result are an increasingly popular part of companies supply chain strategy.

TVS SCS  has over 42 Forward stocking locations across the UK and ROI and typically offer customers a range of service levels including,

    • 30 minutes FSL pick to response time – for a part(s) to be available for an engineer collection.

    • 30 minutes FSL pick to response time – for a part(s) for a final mile courier movement based on 2, 4- or 6-hour part to site SLA’s

Forward inventory is a term used to described how companies distribute their products across a country or region to reduce the distance between their products and their customers.

Typically called Forward Stocking Location, Forward Stock locations or FSL’s for short, these satellite warehouses significantly improve cost and service efficiencies by enabling businesses to increase their service responsiveness to customers.

The speed at which business can meet the demand for delivery or repair is a significant factor in their customer buying decision process, and FSL’s are one-way increase the speed at which demand can be met.

However, the investment and fixed costs to a business of setting up a network of Foward Stocking Locations can be restrictive so as a result, several specialist logistics providers offer access to space within their network of FSL’s providing the benefits at a fraction of the cost.

TVS SCS have a network of over 42 FSL across the UK and ROI and offer a full range of services including, stock control, filtration of parts, staging and pick and pack.

Forward stocking locations, which are also known as Forward Stock Locations or FSL’s enable businesses to hold their inventory in regional warehouses rather than a central one.

Specialist logistic providers manage FSL Networks and operate a commercial model that allows businesses to use part of the space, further minimising costs.

The main disadvantages of FSL’s are related to the introduction of any third party supplier into your supply chain. They include your loss of end to end quality control, lack of supplier ownership and potential margin stack if your chosen supplier, in turn, outsources any aspect of the service they are providing to you. The operation can become complicated very quickly, resulting in an increase in service failures and a lack of clarity as to who is at fault and how to resolve them.

The advantages of a successful partnership with an FSL supplier includes as reducing in the time it takes to deliver your products to customers as well as the time it takes your field service engineers to collect and return parts. These productivity gains represent a real competitive advantage, boosting productivity and increasing service levels.

Unlike any other Forward Stock Location service provider, TVS SCS owns and manages a unique range of national distribution options. These include 42 Forward Stock Locations, 250 PUDO’s and 10,000 Intelligent lockers and well as access to 3,000 same-day couriers, in-night, repair and field service engineers.

This approach ensures that business can increase the efficiency of their inventory management while avoiding costly third-party mark-ups and the lack of ‘ownership’ that can result in expensive delays or lost or damaged items when using separate third-party suppliers.
