Job Overview

The HR Advisor will support the HR Business Partner in the delivery of an efficient and effective HR support and advisory service to the site by providing first line contact on all people related issues consistent with internal processes and legal requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Advise and support Line Managers and the wider business when queries arise relating to Employee Relations; Recruitment & Selection; Pay & Reward and Training and Development issues (this list is not exhaustive) whilst adhering to CIPD professional standards
  • Manage and promote the Employee Benefits Programme including private healthcare, GIP, GLA, Health Awareness and Holiday Buy Back
  • Support the HR Business Partner with employee relations issues, TUPE, training, on-boarding of new starters, restructures and any other HR issues as required
  • Work in partnership with Line Managers during recruitment and induction phases offering advice on individual performance management issues
  • Ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action in accordance with policy and to facilitate a proactive approach to absence management to ensure a smooth return to work
  • Ensure HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal and company requirements
  • Establish a working relationship with the Trade Union and Employee Representatives
  • Support the HR Business Partner with any re-structuring or organisational changes
  • Monitor, review and update all policies in line with current legislation and best practice
  • Compile and deliver training on HR Policies and Employment Law updates as required
  • Deliver weekly Inductions for New Starters
  • Take ownership for the sourcing of training providers for training needs identified through the appraisal process/business requirement including best use of the Apprenticeship Levy ensuring prior approval from Head of HR and within budget
  • Monitor appraisals and objectives received and follow up with Line Managers

Qualifications and Skills

  • A general level of education at degree or professional level, or the equivalent level of attainment gained through professional experience
  • CIPD qualified or willing to work towards with a good understanding of Employment Law
  • Strong generalist and/or HR Advisor experience
  • IT Literate with intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Office 365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Working experience of restructures and TUPE (desirable)
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions (desirable)
