Sukumar K is a seasoned industry professional with over 28 years of experience across many industrial sectors and functions. Sukumar has worked extensively in strategy, business management, Marketing and Sales functions in the Logistics, Telecom, Automobile and Steel sectors.
In his last assignment, he was the Managing Director, India Operations for FedEx Express, where he was responsible for pan India customer-facing operations for the domestic and international products as well as overseeing the warehousing and supply chain business. Before an 8-year stint in FedEx, he was the CEO at AFL Private Limited, a well-known and well-reputed domestic logistics firm which operated under the AFL Wiz name as well as partnered with UPS in India.
Sukumar did pioneering work in developing logistics solutions for e-commerce firms, including fulfilment options like Cash on Delivery and alternate payment options like Credit cards. He also has a keen interest in the areas of Total Quality Management and is a certified ISO 9000 Internal Assessor and Trainer in the Phil Crosby Zero Defect Management system.
He is a B. Tech from IIT Madras and PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad. He has also completed a leadership program with the Ross School of Management, University of Michigan.
