Job Overview
TVS are working as part of Team Leidos, which is a team of defence and logistics specialists, delivering the Logistics Commodities and Services Contract for the Ministry of Defence; providing an end to end supply chain service delivering commodity and inventory services to the UK Ministry of Defence.
Our Defence Clothing Commodity team is recruiting for a PPE Technical Trainee to work for TVS at the Team Leidos offices at Emersons Green in Bristol as part of a vibrant and dynamic team committed to transforming the way the MOD works.
As a PPE Technical Trainee, you will undertake a structured two-year training and development programme, gaining experience and knowledge across all aspects of the PPE Commodity Technical area. Working alongside experienced technical professionals, you will develop an understanding of PPE legislation, certification, product development, specifications, quality, supplier management and technical contract requirements.
Job Responsibilities
As a PPE Technical Trainee, you will receive training and practical experience in:
- PPE legislation, certification and compliance requirements
- Day-to-day requirements of specifications and technical data packs
- Overarching processes and procedures used within Defence Clothing
- IT processes and systems used to manage technical information
- Customer requirements and translating them into technical requirements
- Research and development requirements, including product trials
- Management of patterns and samples, where applicable, including receipts, storage, retrieval and maintenance
- Defect processes and investigations
- Product Quality Control and Acquisition Safety Management requirements
- Technical requirements associated with supplier and contract management
- Maintaining clear technical records and communication of technical issues, risks and progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting the technical elements of the re-let process, including marking matrices, evaluations and technical input required throughout the process.
- Managing and completing specification reviews, ensuring specifications and associated technical information remain accurate and up to date.
- Assisting suppliers with technical tender questions and provide appropriate technical clarification.
- Attending contract review meetings with suppliers and support the technical aspects of contract management.
Successful completion of the two-year training programme and achievement of the required competencies will provide the opportunity to progress into a permanent PPE Technical Manager role, taking responsibility for technical activities across the PPE Commodity.

This role may suit a recent PPE, Materials or related graduate, or someone who has an interest in the PPE industry and is looking to develop a career in technical management.
