Job Overview

The operations director is responsible for the business-as-usual leadership and management of a global logistics service to ensure that desired programme outcomes and objectives are delivered

Job Responsibilities

  • Client relationship
  • Programme delivery in line with contractual commitments
  • Operational and budgetary responsibility to TVSSCS Board management
  • Leadership of a global team (direct of reporting line of c:7) covering supply chain, freight forwarding, warehousing and last mile services
  • Organisational development and exploitation of TVSSCS core resource and skills (matrix management)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of successful programme management
  • Overseeing sub-contractor arrangements and performance
  • Ability to network effectively, negotiate well, influence people and broker relationships with senior stakeholders within and outside the programme
  • Experience of defining criteria for control and management of a programme including formal reporting and risk assessment and management principles
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, change oriented environment, driving continuous improvement
  • Managing a programme budget, including risk allowance
  • General interest in the logistics industry, remaining up to date with market conditions.

 

Qualifications and experience

Business Management Degree or similar

Membership of a recognised logistics body e.g. CILT would be advantageous.

Experience of managing a global logistics service that includes freight forwarding would be advantageous.

Where we are:

Our head office is based at a purpose built, state of the art distribution facility on Buckshaw Village in Chorley with excellent transport links to the M61 and M6 plus a mainline train station less than a mile away. The office has on site parking, shower facilities for those who brave the elements on a bike or on foot and a subsidised canteen.

We are currently operating on a hybrid working basis, there will however be a period of time at the start of your employment spent fully working in our office, familiarising yourself with our systems and processes.
