Job Overview

We are currently recruiting an office-based Medical Technician working for TVS as part of “Team Leidos”. “Team Leidos” is a team of defence and logistics specialists supporting a major transformation contract for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). The aim of the contract is to provide an end-to-end supply chain service and deliver commodity and inventory savings.

 

The role will be based at Emersons Green, Bristol, as part of a vibrant and dynamic team, committed to transforming the way the MoD works.

Please note this role is Monday to Friday based in Emersons Green, Bristol. At present we work on a hybrid model of three days working from home and two days in office each week. Therefore, you must be able to commute to Bristol.

Job Responsibilities

The role covers various tasks that support the range of medical consumable items supplied to the UK MoD. The support required spans the life cycle of a medical consumable product involving the introduction of new items, the management of current items, and the controlled obsolescence of items that are outdated or no longer produced. The role reports into the Senior Medical Technician in the Medical Commodity space.

 

To support the above life cycle of products you will:

  • Act as the technical expert, along with the other medical technicians, to provide technical and product related specific advice and information about medical consumable items.
  • Advise on direct and indirect replacements for items in service.
  • Interact with military personnel and suppliers to assess product requirements, introduce new medical consumables and prevent interruptions in medical consumable supply.
  • Work with the other non-technical areas of Team Leidos to support the renewal of, and introduction of new, contract tenders. This will include evaluating new and existing products and suppliers.
  • Actively manage the data held on the range of medical consumables, keeping the catalogue of items available to the UK MoD up to date and accurate.
  • Action safety alerts and recalls as well as assuring all products supported are compliant and correctly registered for use in the UK.
  • Attend visits to UK MoD sites, trade shows and industry expos where required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Qualifications in Healthcare or health related sciences
  • Previous experience of working in or with the UK MoD and understanding of the UK MoD processes and equipment
  • A working knowledge of a supply chain end to end process
  • Previous exposure to Medical Consumables and willingness to develop your technical knowledge
  • Experience working within a team and collaborating to deliver projects
  • Experience conducting research or enquiries into medical related items
