Job Overview

The Infrastructure team is responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, optimising and improving the environment.

 

The position involves progressing various key infrastructure projects, delivering them on time and

within budget. Managing the planned tasks and keeping stakeholders updated. Line manage and lead the day-to-day work of the Infrastructure team in a hands-on technical capacity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability and security throughout the IT infrastructure.
  • Physical and logical network design, monitoring, optimisation and security.
  • Management of Virtual Servers, Operating systems and the desktop estate.
  • Monitor, diagnose and resolve problems with key IT systems to ensure systems work efficiently.
  • Manage crisis situations and work under pressure to resolve problems.
  • Plan and undertake projects to improve and upgrade key IT systems.
  • Produce relevant documentation and project plans.
  • Manage, configure and develop the LAN and WAN across Europe.
  • Provide technical expertise for 1st and 2nd line IT support staff, sharing technical knowledge.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
  • Provide operational and technical support documentation as appropriate.
  • Independently analyse, solve and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues and document all changes.

 

  • Responsible for the management of TVS Europe Infrastructure operations
    • incident resolution, service request fulfilment, request for information, minor change requests and problem resolution.
    • Support the management of major infrastructure incidents.
    • Coordinate the team resources, allocate tasks, check progress, report results to peers and higher management.
    • Provides technical direction to 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support teams of IT staff.
    • Liaise with third-party support teams and/or vendors when an additional support, advice or escalation is required.
    • Act as a guardian for the appropriate execution of all configuration and minor change management processes within production environment.
  • Ensure the infrastructure is secure and compliant in spirit and letter of CE+ and ISO certifications.
  • Turn strategic roadmap into actionable tasks.
  • Plan the work of the team in 2 week iterations and beyond.
  • Collaborate extensively with all levels of IT to communicate processes and directions related to IT infrastructure and help business objectives
  • Feed into the strategic plans of the department.
  • Ensure team compliance with corporate and department best practice.
  • Ensure the company benefits from a stable and performant network and server environment.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and possess expert knowledge in some of the technologies currently used. Specific experience is unimportant as tools many change, though the candidate should have a broad knowledge in the field.
