Job Overview

To fully support the Business Solutions process by effectively carrying out the analysis and modelling of customer data for input into the solution design process.  The data analyst and modelling will be of a quality that will support the production of solutions that add value to potential customers. To maintain and develop business solutions models that identify resources and operating costs for solutions. To participate in customer meetings as part of the solution design team, helping to define, collect and verify the quality of data. To provide the customer with templates, guidance and support with data requirements and formats.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the analysis of data and production of inputs into the solution design process, working as an integral part of a team
  • Development of strong inter-personal relationships with other members of the solutions and implementation and also colleagues in the wider business
  • Support the business winning team preparing inputs/process flows and operational modelling in response to new business tenders
  • Participate in all aspects of the solution decision process, with specific focus on:
  • Identification and analyse of relevant data input information from customer
  • Sense checking of model outputs against existing contract costs in similar sectors
  • Presentation of results in an acceptable format for team decision making and use in proposal and tender documents
  • Participation in and support of the solution design process through the use of current modelling and simulation tools such as Class Cirrus and other transport routing tools such as Paragon
  • Modelling of operational headcount and transport requirements
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure solutions are robust and workable
  • Remaining abreast of relevant logistics industry developments

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educated to degree level with a relevant qualification that has a major logistics / supply chain component.
  • An in-depth knowledge of supply chain
  • Demonstrable attributes that would highlight abilities to support the design of innovative solutions
  • Presentation skills using appropriate media
  • Ability to establish credible presence and build relationships within the New Business process
  • Ability to verbally communicate across departments and at multiple levels internally
  • Ability to verbally communicate with customers externally
  • The ability to analyse and manipulate data in a logical way and draw supported conclusions to aid the design of solutions
  • Ability to conduct the benchmarking of the inputs of proposals
  • Technical skills should include:
  • Spreadsheet and database analytical techniques (MS Excel)
  • Warehouse layout and volume/productivity/resource skills
  • Transport routing and mapping
  • Cost modelling using internal models
  • Financial awareness of commercial concepts including P&L, Contribution and ROCE
  • Use of current versions of:
    • MS Excel: mainly but not limited to graphs, pivot tables, vlookup / hlookup, filters, if function, etc.
    • MS Power Point, standard presentation format
    • Other MS Software: MS Word, MS Visio, MS MapPoint, MS Project
